Melchers Receives 25-Year Long-Term Membership Recognition Award from GCC North, Forging New Chapters in China-Germany Economic and Trade Cooperation
On January 13th, 2026, New Year’s Reception of German Chamber of Commerce (GCC) North China was successfully held. Dr. Mike Hofmann, Managing Director of the Consumer Business Unit of Melchers China, was invited to attend the event and received the Long-Term Membership Recognition Award on behalf of the Melchers Group. This award is exclusively presented to ten member companies, in recognition of their 25-year partnership with the German Chamber of Commerce, as well as their consistent support for the Chamber’s activities and the advancement of China-Germany business relations.
The reception was of particular significance. Dr. Helena Melnikov, CEO of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK), attended the award ceremony and delivered a keynote speech during her first visit to China since taking office. A panel discussion themed “What lies ahead for German Business in China” was hosted at the event, which established a high-level communication platform for German enterprises operating in China to exchange perspectives and share experiences. The platform also helped industry peers build consensus and jointly explore pathways for future cooperation.
As a German enterprise with over 200 years of history, Melchers established its first office in Hong Kong in 1866 and was among the earliest foreign-invested enterprises to invest in China and engage in economic and trade activities post-reform and opening-up.
