Melchers Group Enters Strategic Cooperation with German Brüning Group to Jointly Develop China’s Responsible Timber Market

Shanghai, 5 November 2025 – Melchers Group, a multinational trading group with a long-standing presence in China, officially announced a strategic cooperation with Brüning Group, a German integrated natural resources company. This collaboration will leverage Melchers’ well-established channel network and localized operational capabilities in Greater China as its core foundation to support Brüning Group in efficiently expanding the market for its sustainable roundwood products (including saw roundwood, industrial wood and energy wood). The partnership aims to jointly address the growing domestic demand for responsible timber and promote the sustainable utilization of forestry resources alongside green transformation within the industry.

As an experienced bridge in Sino-German economic and trade cooperation, Melchers Group possesses extensive channel resources and a customer service system covering multiple industries in Greater China, with particular depth of experience in bulk commodity trading and supply chain integration. The German Brüning Group is a benchmark enterprise in the field of sustainable forestry in Europe. Its complete range of roundwood products hold three major international certifications: FSC®, PEFC, and SBP. The entire process, from afforestation and harvesting to transportation, is traceable, ensuring that the raw materials meet the highest environmental and social responsibility standards. This makes them suitable for high-quality timber requirements across various sectors such as construction, furniture manufacturing, and supporting the renewable energy industry.

Under this cooperation, Melchers will provide Brüning Group with customized channel solutions, including market expansion, customer engagement, logistics optimization, and localized after-sales services, to facilitate its rapid adaptation to the Chinese market. Simultaneously, drawing on its own brand influence, Melchers will communicate the sustainable value of Brüning’s products to domestic clients, promoting the popularization of the responsible timber concept within the industry.

Commenting on the rationale for the partnership, Mr.Jörg Müller, the head of Melcher’s roundwood project in Greater China stated: “Under China’s ‘Dual Carbon’ goals, market demand for traceable and environmentally friendly timber continues to rise, creating significant opportunities for high-quality international forestry resources to enter China. Brüning Group’s expertise and stringent standards in sustainable forestry align perfectly with Melchers’ strategy of ‘deep local roots and empowering partners’. We believe that by combining our respective strengths, we can not only offer Chinese customers a broader selection of high-quality timber but also set a cooperative benchmark for ‘responsible sourcing’ within the industry.”

Mr. Maximilian Rehder, project director from Brüning Group also expressed strong expectations for the collaboration: “Entering the Chinese market is a crucial step in our global strategy, and Melchers is our ideal partner. Their profound understanding of the Chinese market and comprehensive channel layout can help us quickly overcome geographical and market barriers. In the future, we will introduce diversified sustainable wood solutions to Greater China through Melchers’ platform, and contribute to the sustainable development of local industries.”

The establishment of this strategic cooperation marks a significant step for Melchers Group in deepening cross-border collaboration within the bulk commodities sector and also builds a new bridge for exchange between the Chinese and German forestry industries. Looking ahead, Melchers will continue to leverage its dual advantages of “integrating international resources and providing localized services” to facilitate the entry of more high-quality international brands into China, while simultaneously promoting the development of related domestic industries towards greater sustainability and higher quality.
