From 21 to 24 October, the 94th China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) took place at the Capital International Exhibition & Convention Center in Beijing. Meddax (Shanghai) Intelligent Medical Technology Co., Ltd. exhibited alongside German brands AKTORmed and Bauerfeind, bringing further solutions to minimally invasive system, sports medicine and rehabilitation medicine. Meddax is a joint venture registered by Altride Healthcare, the healthcare subsidiary of the Melchers Group, and Maxwell (Jiangsu) Intelligent Medical Technology Co., Ltd.; over three years of development, its sales network has grown to cover the whole country.

Developed and manufactured in Germany, AKTORmed’s Soloassist II uses intelligent technology to achieve precise control of the endoscope, reducing the manual burden of holding the scope, shortening procedure time and effectively reducing patient discomfort during surgery; the product also meets the clinical need for stable endoscopic imaging and standardized scope positioning. In February this year, the series obtained a medical device registration certificate from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), now the product can be sold in the Chinese market and used in clinical practice in hospitals.

Meddax also presented Bauerfeind’s medical back and knee support ranges. Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Zeulenroda, Thuringia, Germany, Bauerfeind AG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical aids, with products including supports and braces, orthoses, compression stockings and orthopedic insoles. This was the brand’s first participation in CMEF, where professionals from sports medicine and rehabilitation held in-depth discussions with staff on how the products work and where they apply.

For Melchers, bringing European medical technology to China has never been a matter of simply importing products. In healthcare, this bridge between European and Chinese medical technology rests on registration, distribution channels, clinical support and long-term service. Going forward, Melchers and its joint venture Meddax will continue to expand Sino-European cooperation in medical devices, so that high-standard products reach more doctors and patients.
