Melchers Hong Kong Receives Centenary Membership Award from Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce
On 29 May, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) hosted a grand 165th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Dinner. Mr John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, graced the function and delivered a keynote speech. Levin von Gehren, Managing Director of Melchers Hong Kong, attended the event by invitation as the company’s representative. Melchers founded its first Asian branch in Hong Kong in 1866, having witnessed a century-long path of mutual growth and prosperity between the enterprise and Hong Kong. The company was presented with the HKGCC Centenary Membership Award during the ceremony.
As one of Hong Kong’s industrial and commercial organisations, the HKGCC has over a century of experience facilitating regional commerce and boosting Hong Kong’s business prosperity as well as trade between China and Europe. Melchers Hong Kong ranks among the Chamber’s founding core members, having formally joined in 1869 for a total of 157 years of continuous membership.
Over the past century, Melchers Hong Kong has maintained a close partnership with the HKGCC. It has witnessed and taken part in Hong Kong’s remarkable transformation from a traditional trading port into a world-renowned Asian financial hub and international trade centre, standing as an important participant and witness to Hong Kong’s commercial evolution.
2026 is a landmark year for the Melchers Group, commemorating its 160th anniversary of business operations in China. Throughout 160 years, the group has remained focused on the Chinese market.
