Thirty Years with Melchers Hong Kong – A Journey of Warmth and Partnership
Thinking back to when I had just stepped into society, full of youthful naivety, I knocked on the door of Melchers Hong Kong. The first time I walked into the office, I was instantly infected by the vitality here — colleagues were busy checking orders, with the sound of keyboards clicking nonstop; some partners were focused on connecting with clients, speaking patiently over the phone. It turned out the company was already a century-old enterprise back then. That surprise and joy made me immediately certain: I would definitely learn a lot here. Little did I know, this “learning journey” would last for thirty years.
Over these years, the company has changed a great deal. As China continues to open up and develop, the role of Melchers Hong Kong has also transformed. In the past, we focused more on the practical work of import and export trade; now, most of our efforts are put into providing services. Every step, from connecting with client needs to follow-up support and guarantees, is handled with greater care. Despite the huge transformation, seeing the company adapt to the needs of the times step by step fills me with a deep sense of reassurance.
Some people say it’s not easy to stay in one company for thirty years, but for me, time seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. The key reason is that our Accounting Department has long been like a family. Winfield Au, our department manager, is both a mentor and a friend to me. Whenever I’ve struggled with a tricky accounting issue, he’s patiently walked me through it—from the logic behind reports to handling techniques—holding nothing back. When I have troubles in life, he was always there to listen and offer practical advice. It’s the same with other colleagues. We work together day in and day out, sometimes spending more hours together at the office than with our own families, and we have long been inseparable.
Moreover, the company’s departments are always adjusting their directions to keep up with progress. Every once in a while, I get to take on new work content — from traditional bookkeeping, to learning new financial systems later, and then using different methods to handle business accounts after the transformation. Every time I face a new challenge, I feel energized. That drive to keep learning has never let work feel dull.
Now, I have been with the company for thirty years. Looking back on the past, my mind is filled with precious memories. Moving forward, I still want to keep learning new things here and face every change with courage. I truly believe Melchers Hong Kong will continue to play its role well, standing firm through the times, and helping Melchers Group shine even brighter.
